Flapjack Lakes Hike

I thought hiking season was over in October until my sister asked to do one more hike from her checklist. We chose to do Flapjack Lakes in southeast corner of the Olympics. Though it was Fall there weren't many Fall colors to see along the eight mile hike up to the lakes. Instead we had a solitary hike through the forest with the occasional waterfall to view and steam to cross. Things didn't open up until we got to the twin lakes with views of Sawtooth Ridge and Mount Cruiser. The lakes were nice, but not spectacular. The destination would have served better as a campsite as there various routes to explore from the lakes. As this was day hike we soon turned around and not soon enough as it started to rain which continued doing so all the way back to the car. I'm glad to have gone on another (and amazingly trouble free) hike with my sister, but I'm definitely was done with hiking for the year.
