There were also lots of other things to do in Sunriver besides gathering at each family's house. There were paved trails going everywhere which was nice for family bike rides. The SHARC aquatics center was a very crowded pool area, but the kids had fun playing in the water. Another good kids area was the nature center and observatory. It wasn't big, but it had some birds of prey, a nature walk and an observatory for both night and day sky viewing. A short drive away was the city of Bend which I drove, biked and floated through. The most interesting site in Bend was the very last Blockbuster store. The kids, accustomed to streaming, got a history lesson on video rentals. Everything was nice at Sunriver except for our rental home which was a dark and a bit run down cabin. It suited our needs, but were happier exploring the area than staying at the cabin.
