Return from College

After dropping Rachel off at St. Mary's last August I knew I would be the one driving down and picking her up, but was unsure of the logistics. To save vacation time I drove down at night, took a nap at a rest area half way down and met Rachel at her dorm just before noon. There was some concern about whether we could fit all her accumulated stuff in my car, but there was plenty of space. After less than two hours of packing we were ready for the drive home.

We drove up Highway 101 to reduce the monotony of the drive back. The drive was little bit longer, but much more scenic with the Pacific Ocean and beaches often in view. To celebrate her freedom from dorm food Rachel dined like a queen with sushi and Mexican on our food stops. She also got to help a bit with the driving, but she preferred being a passenger. We got home just over 48 hours from when I left. Rachel was happy to be home.
