Seattle Waterfront Visit

We had to renew the kids' passports which must be done in person with the parents. We scheduled the time at a Seattle office during spring break so only I had to take time off. We took advantage of the day off to explore the newly revamped Seattle waterfront. We started in Pioneer Square, saw Jamie's old Seattle Fire Department office, visited Magic Mouse toys and proceeded to the waterfront.

After the Alaska Way viaduct was replaced by a tunnel the waterfront has been built up to be more park like and pedestrian friendly. The biggest change perhaps is the Ocean Pavilion extension of the Seattle Aquarium. The pavilion provides a much needed upgrade to the aquarium, though it felt a bit empty. Another feature of the pavilion is the roof contains a park and bridge for easy access to the Pike Place Market.

We walked through the market and down to Post Alley where for the first time I got to experience the fascinating/disgusting gum wall. We continued down Post Alley to Dough Zone for a tasty dumpling lunch. We returned to the waterfront and exposed the kids to the weirdness of Ye Olde Curiosity Shop. We ended the day with a stop at Top Pot Doughnuts. Not a bad family outing in our home town.
