Family Reunion | Biking | High Desert Museum | Smith Rock

Like the 2019 family reunion, we brought bikes with us to Sunriver. Lance and I did a short ride to the Lava Butte cinder cone, which had a steep, spiraling road to the top. Lance had to take a few breaks, but he made it to the top without walking the bike.

The next day, I rode around Mt. Bachelor, like I did in 2019. The 66-mile, 3400' ride was as scenic as before but more dangerous than I remembered. The backside had a narrow shoulder, which made things uncomfortable when speeding cars passed. I was riding much more in 2019, so I think my confidence/trust was much higher back then.

Another day, Rachel, Lance, and I did a short ride with most of the Fry family to Benham Falls. It was a chaotic ride of e-bikes, fixies, and road bikes.

On the last day, I again rode up to Lava Butte to see how fast I could climb it. I PR'ed it (no kids with me), but my time was twice the KOM for the climbing segment.
