Mount Si Hike

Though I've hiked up Mount Si many times, I've never dedicated a page to it. The only redeeming factors of the hike is that it's close to Seattle, and the 8 miles round trip and 3000' of gain is good conditioning for better hikes. The crowded trail is an uninspiring slog through a forest, with a paltry view only appearing at the top. Back in 2008, I carried Rachel up the trail, but this year she hiked it on her own. Not surprisingly, clouds obscured the view when we made it up to the rocky end of the trail. For fun, we attempted to scramble up to the haystack summit. I made it two-thirds of the way up before a sense of mortality hit me, and I had to head down. Rachel could have gone higher if I hadn't chickened out. In any case, it was a good warm-up hike for the both of us, but as usual, it was mundane.
